- MIchael Moonee is a native of Jamberoo but has been living in Montreal in Canada for a few years. It gets to minus 20 degrees there he says...since my toenails froze off at zero degrees in New York a couple of years back , I think I should stay near the equator.
Luckily The Wesley Anne is a lovely temperature, great food and a bar and comfie couches. I am playing and so is Luke Vassella
Luke is well known on the NSW North Coast and has played over 1500 gigs in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Sweden & Finland.
Luke won the 'Australia' category and Best Live Performance at the 2010 Australian Songwriter's Association Awards. He has received four Dolphin Awards, and recently made the shortlist as a finalist in the Vanda & Young Song Competition out of over 3200 entries.
His music is a relaxing blend of smooth acoustic folk-rock, with an appealing country flavour. He has played with Wendy Mathews, Savage Garden and Peter Garret. He plays with guitar, harmonica, stomp box, tambourine & voice. www.lukevassella.com/bio.html
Well I would like a Dolphin Award - especially if I get to swim with them. I also won a couple of categories in the Australian Songwriters Association Competition last year - Dance/ Contemporary and Pop categories. Having said that, music isn't about being in competition, but winning them has given me a leg up - I especially remain grateful to APRA and John Butler for all the help he gave me when I won a big award from his foundation - he financed my tour, my EP release and publicity and more..

This venue is one of the premier venues for live music in Melbourne.
For my launch - the Once Upon a Time ensemble will play the first half - piano, pedal steel ( Shane Reilly from Men in Black Show), guitar, percussion, bass, beautiful harmonies... and we will do the songs from the album.
Then my brother Josh will play with illuminati Pete Marin (drums) and Steve Hadley (bass) both at the top of their respective musical trees in the country. My brother writes really interesting catchy and different songs and he sings - he really does.
The third section will be my awesome new band "Jessica Paige & the Golden Rule" with my songs such as " Telescope", "Watch Each Other Suffering", "Jealous", "Tired of Playing by the Rules" and more... all tried and true songs that have made the cut for the next album I am working on.
When we unveiled the band at The Espy we were pronounced "mind- blowingly awesome" O.K., so that was my Dad who said that, but if you know him, he isn't easy to please!

For one night only the Riverview will be showcasing the brillance of Steve Poltz and Melbourne's own Jessica Paige.
Kicking off 5pm with a bbq available: a selection of meats with a salad buffet. Order and pay as you go.
There will be tables around but theatre style seats for the show. This is a one-off gig on the terrace at Riverview with the Maribyrnong River and the city skyline as a backdrop and is bound to be a gig to remember.
STEVE POLTZ is one of the USA's most gifted and prolific songwriters. With thousands of songs under his belt, and a lifetime on the road beneath his feet, he is a world-class musician. The last time he came to Melbourne he peroromed with Jewel (their co-written song "You belong to me" became the longest running song in the history of the Billboard Top 100).
Poltz has also released a series of solo albums that have garnered him worldwide acclaim, with songs prominently featured in movies such as Notting Hil and television shows like Dawson's Creek.
Poltz is more than a golden-voiced honey dripper - this is the Steve Poltz who pioneered punk-folk music as the front man for The Rugburns, the San Diego-based band whose repertoire boasts a thunderous collection of fist-pumping anthems. Poltz has also released an album called Answering Machine, consisting entirely of 45-second songs that he recorded for his outgoing answering machine message. Neil Young has remarked that he counts this among his favorite albums.
JESSICA PAIGE was described recently by the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, as "a wonderful busker", that was just before she criticised his plans, broadcast on national TV and radio, to audition buskers and implement many new ways to fine them.
Jessica isn't just a wonderful busker, she is writing a musical based on a classic work, has a swag of notable songwriting awards,is performing in events and festivals around the country solo and with her new band of "Little Fish". She was introduced recently by Adam Hills as "my favourite singer-songwriter" when she guested on his new TV show. Jessica was also singled out by independent music phenomenon, John Butler, as an outstanding emerging artist and he helped her to release her EP Under My Skin. Van Dyke Parks (of Beach Boys, Silverchair, and Rufus Wainwright fame) is collaborating with her on new material which is bound to be something to take the musical gliterati by surprise.
